Doritos, in full.
This multipack puts Doritos Tangy Cheese into five 30g bags, 150g of corn tortilla chips in total, each bag a single serving sealed until it is opened. The full product name on the pack is Tangy Cheese Flavour Corn Chips, and the pack notes 19% less plastic in the outer bag compared with 2025.
What is in each bag
According to the published pack listing, the chips are made from corn (maize), rapeseed oil, a tangy cheese flavour seasoning and antioxidants: rosemary extract, ascorbic acid, a tocopherol rich extract and citric acid.
The seasoning lists whey powder, flavouring (containing milk), salt, buttermilk powder, cheese powder, tomato powder, onion powder, potassium chloride, sugar, garlic powder, colours (paprika extract, annatto bixin and plain caramel), acids (citric acid and lactic acid), milk protein, spices, skimmed milk powder and a flavour enhancer, disodium 5'-ribonucleotide.
Why corn chips crunch differently
A potato crisp is a slice of potato. A tortilla chip is made from corn dough, rolled thin and cut into triangles before it is cooked. That gives a denser, firmer chip with a glassy snap and a sweet, toasted corn flavour that you do not get from potato. It also gives a sturdier shape, which is why Doritos are the chip people reach for with a dip.
Where the tang and the colour come from
The tangy part of the name comes from buttermilk powder, lactic acid and citric acid, which together give a sharpness like a mature cheese or a spoon of yoghurt. The rich part comes from the whey, cheese, milk protein and skimmed milk powders. The bright orange dusting comes from three colours, paprika extract, annatto bixin and plain caramel, and the pack says there are no artificial colours or flavours.
Numbers for one bag
The label gives 144 kcal, 6.6g of fat, 0.7g of saturates, 18g of carbohydrate, 1.1g of sugars, 1.7g of fibre, 2g of protein and 0.27g of salt for each 30g bag. That is about 7% of an average adult's daily energy reference intake and 5% of the salt. Per 100g it is 480 kcal, 22g of fat, 2.2g of saturates, 3.7g of sugars and 0.89g of salt. On the UK front of pack scale fat is high, saturates and salt are medium, and sugars are low.
Note that a Doritos multipack bag is 30g, where the Walkers and McCoy's multipack bags we stock are 25g. The calories per bag reflect that: 144 kcal here against 127 to 133 kcal for those 25g bags.
The front of pack colours
Per 100g, the chips show a red for fat at 22g, above the 17.5g threshold; amber for saturates at 2.2g; green for sugars at 3.7g; and amber for salt at 0.89g. Per 30g bag, the salt is 0.27g, about 5% of an average adult's daily reference intake.
Allergens and diet
The published ingredients highlight milk, in six separate ingredients. The allergy advice says the chips may contain cereals containing gluten and soya. The pack says they are suitable for vegetarians and made with no artificial colours or flavours. They are not vegan, because of the milk, and no gluten free claim is made. Recipes and factory arrangements change, so check the allergy advice on the pack you receive.
How the chips are made
Corn dough is pressed into thin sheets, cut into triangles and cooked in rapeseed oil until crisp through. The seasoning is tumbled on while the chips are warm, and the pack says the bags are packaged in a protective atmosphere, which keeps oxygen away from the oil until a bag is opened. The pack names Walkers Snack Foods Ltd as the maker.
Five bags, five uses
Five 30g bags cover a school or working week. A bag of Tangy Cheese goes well with a wrap, a chicken salad or a bowl of chilli, and a crushed bag makes a crunchy topping for a pasta bake or a tray of nachos. For a lunchbox, the sealed bag keeps the chips crisp until they are opened.
Less plastic in the outer bag
The pack notes 19% less plastic in the outer bag compared with 2025. The outer bag is the one that holds the five small bags together, so the saving is in the packaging you throw away first, not in the bags that keep each serving fresh.
Keeping a bag crisp at lunchtime
Corn chips are sturdier than thin potato crisps, but they still soften if they sit next to anything damp. Pack the bag in a dry compartment, away from fruit, yoghurt and drinks, and open it just before eating. A 30g bag is a sensible side for a wrap or a salad, and anything left can be crushed over the salad for crunch.
Other sizes and flavours
The same flavour comes in a 180g sharing bag. In the same five bag format we stock Doritos Chilli Heatwave and Cool Original, and the Doritos Variety box of twelve 30g bags mixes several flavours.
Storage
The pack advises a cool, dry place. Keep the bags in the outer pack until needed and finish each bag once it is opened.

Crunch and flavour science
What happens when you eat Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips comes down to three things, and reading them in order explains the bag from the first crunch to the salt left on your fingers.
The bite is a firm corn triangle with a glassy snap, denser than a potato crisp.
The seasoning is cheesy and rich from whey, cheese and milk powders, tangy from buttermilk, lactic and citric acid, and savoury from tomato, onion and garlic.
The finish is tangy and cheesy with toasted corn sweetness underneath.
Getting the best from a bag
Pack a bag with a wrap or chicken salad, or crush one over a pasta bake.
How storage changes it
Keep the bags sealed in the outer pack in a cool, dry place, and finish each bag once opened.

Serving ideas
Cheesy corn chips in lunchbox bags, with a few kitchen uses besides.
Serving ideas, tried and simple
The Lunchbox Week
Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips comes as separate bags, which is exactly what a week of packed lunches needs.
- One multipack of Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips
- A lunchbox with a dry compartment
- Keep the bags sealed in the outer pack until the morning you use them.
- Pack one bag per day, away from anything wet like fruit or a yoghurt pot.
- Check the per bag figures on the Ingredients and Nutrition tab if you are counting calories or salt for a child.
Small sealed bags stay crisp for far longer than a sharing bag decanted into tubs.
A Tray of Nachos
Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips spread on one tray, loaded and melted, is the sharing food tortilla chips were made for.
- A sharing bag of Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips
- 150g grated Cheddar or mozzarella
- Sliced jalapenos from a jar (optional)
- Soured cream and salsa to serve
- Heat the oven to 200C, 180C fan, gas mark 6.
- Spread the chips in a single layer on a large tray; piles steam instead of crisping.
- Scatter the cheese and jalapenos over the top.
- Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese has melted, then add soured cream and salsa at the table.
Build two thin layers rather than one deep one if the tray is small, so every chip gets some cheese.
Crunch on Top of Macaroni Cheese
A crushed bag of Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips makes a quicker, saltier crust than breadcrumbs ever will.
- A dish of macaroni cheese, made and hot
- 1 bag or a large handful of Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips
- A little grated Cheddar
- Crush the crisps in the bag with the heel of your hand into rough pieces, not dust.
- Scatter them over the macaroni with a little grated cheese.
- Grill for two to three minutes until the cheese bubbles. Watch it; crisps catch fast.
- Rest for two minutes before serving so the top sets.
Keep some crushed crisps back and add them at the table for a second layer of crunch.
Five Minute Tomato Salsa
A fresh salsa takes five minutes and makes Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips a proper starter.
- 4 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
- Half a red onion, finely chopped
- A small bunch of coriander, chopped
- Juice of 1 lime
- A pinch of salt
- Mix the tomato, onion and coriander in a bowl.
- Season with lime juice and a small pinch of salt; the chips bring salt of their own.
- Leave it ten minutes for the flavours to meet, then serve with the chips.
Drain off any liquid that gathers in the bowl before serving, or the chips go soft on the scoop.
Soured Cream and Chive Dip
A cool dip for Doritos Tangy Cheese Tortilla Chips, and a good way to calm down anything with heat in it.
- 150ml soured cream
- A small bunch of chives, snipped
- A squeeze of lemon
- Black pepper
- Stir the chives and lemon into the soured cream.
- Season with black pepper; leave the salt to the crisps.
- Chill for ten minutes and serve in a small bowl next to the bag.
Thicker crisps and chips scoop best; thin ones are better dipped at the corner.
